LESD’s Telehealth School Wellness Centers are celebrating their one-year anniversary!
In February 2024, LESD launched a revolutionary partnership with Telehealth Docs Medical Group and Kern Family Health Care to introduce Wellness Centers at all school sites in the district. This innovative partnership allows LESD students to connect virtually with medical providers to receive care.
Since then, hundreds of students have benefited from the opportunity to receive convenient primary and urgent care from the comfort of their own school building. Student performance has improved, and absenteeism has dropped. In October 2024, the Telehealth initiative was recognized with a Health Equity and Quality Award from Kern Family Health Care.
The Telehealth program saves families the cost and inconvenience of having to travel or miss work to take children to doctor’s appointments. Children benefit, too, missing fewer days of school.
